Master Yoga Instructor, Bobby Norrise opened the Health Expo at 8:30 am with a full class participating in yoga exercises. Billy Blanks, the originator of Tae Bo, returned to the Health Summit for an unprecedented third time and again led two work out sessions and motivated the crowd. The Bay Area has a love affair with the original "Tae Bo Man". His full work out sessions was attended by various ages and ethnicities.
The 3rd Summit's Health Expo expanded to include a Youth Pavilion focused on teen health and getting young people movement. The Youth Pavilion was a big hit and will surely be part of the 2009 Health Summit. |
Healthy Oakland had long lines as it showcased its' Barbershop and Beauty Salon Health Project and provided free hair cuts. The unsung heroes of the Health Expo were the Bay Area Black Nurses who tirelessly provided health screenings all day. Joining them were the Ethnic Health Institute, Sinklar Miller, Children’s Hospital, Kaiser's Ask the Doctor Booth and the Northern California Kidney Foundation.
