Addressing Behavioral Health Needs for African Americans-Community Gathering, Family Bible Fellowship Church, Newark, California-Feb. 27, 2015
                                                                                                                                  Â
The Bay Area Black United Fund (BABUF) and Health and Human Resource Education Center (HHREC) have been hired by the Alameda County Behavioral Health Care Services Agency (BHCS) to facilitate the development of the BHCS African American Steering Committee. This committee will be comprised of community stakeholders and subject matter experts.
After the Steering Committee is selected, the committee will define its specific process and goals, its overall mission, as well as provide guidance to BHCS in the prioritization of funding for the next round of Mental Health Service Act dollars targeting services to the African American community. BABUF and HHREC will provide support to the Steering Committee to achieve its identified goals.
There are two ways to learn more about the Steering Committee Selection process:
⢠Attend the community meeting at the Family Bible Fellowship Church on Friday, February 27, 2015 from 1-4 pm;
⢠Respond to the email we will send out following the February 27th meeting.
Please note, whether you attend the meeting or respond to the email, you will have the same opportunity to apply for the Steering Committee.
Once the Steering Committee is selected (by the end of March) we will provide information on meeting locations, meeting agenda and notes (posted on BABUF, HHREC and Innovations Grant website(s)) and an email address to ask questions or seek additional information. We are excited about the important work of the Steering Committee and endeavor to facilitate a successful and transparent process.
We look forward to working with the Alameda County African American community and leadership over the next several months.
